Paddle the Shores Rowing & Paddling Activities on our Lakes and Canals Date: October 6-8, 2006 Place: Ocean Shores, WA

NEW EVENT - Watch for updates.

Attention paddling & rowing enthusiasts. All human-powered water craft invited. ACT is planning a fun-filled weekend on the water, scheduled to take place October 6-8, 2006. For the past two years ACT has joined with the Ocean Shores Paddle Club to co-sponsor the Poker Paddle in the month of May. Beginning in 2006, the Poker Paddle has moved to October and become just one of the many activities of Paddle the Shores. For directions to the Convention Center and North Bay Park, see See MAP.

In addition to the popular Poker Paddle, activities will include a boat cruise, a human-powered boat race, speakers, vendors, boat try-outs, and a picnic. Come join the fun!

  • FRIDAY, Oct. 6
    • Vendors displaying the latest in boats, paddling equipment and accessories at END OF SEASON PRICES. - 12 Noon to 7 PM. Convention Center.
    • Pre-Registration for water events - 6 PM to 8 PM. Convention Center.
    • Seminar - 7 PM. Speakers / topics to be announced. Convention Center.
  • SATURDAY, Oct. 7
    • Boat Race Registration - 8 AM to 10 AM. North Bay Park.
    • Boat Cruise - 9 AM. Duck Lake. Presented by the Ocean Shores Yacht Club.
    • Boat Try-Outs - 9 AM to 4 PM. North Bay Park.
    • Pre-Race Meeting - 9:30 AM. North Bay Park.
    • HUMAN-POWERED BOAT RACE - 10 AM. Duck Lake. Kayaks, Canoes, Sculls and Paddleboats. All divisions invited and awards in each division. Life jackets, whistles, and basic boating skills required. See MAP. Start / Finish: North Bay Park
    • Vendors displaying the latest in boats, paddling equipment and accessories at END OF SEASON PRICES. - 10 AM to 5 PM. Convention Center.
    • Awards Presentation - Approx. 12 noon. North Bay Park.
    • Seminar - 1 PM. Steve Gibbons, Scappoose Bay Kayaking / "How to Pack Your Kayak for Camping". Convention Center.
    • Seminar - 2 PM. Convention Center. Speaker / topic to be announced.
    • Seminar - 3 PM. Officer Grossi, Ocean Shores Police Dept. / topic to be announced. Convention Center.
  • SUNDAY, Oct. 8
    • Poker Paddle Registration - 8 AM to 10 AM. North Bay Park.
    • Boat Try-Outs - 9 AM to 4 PM. North Bay Park.
    • POKER PADDLE - 10 AM. Duck Lake. Leisurely paddle the interconnecting lakes and canals of Ocean Shores, picking up playing cards at each of the seven stops along the way. The stops are 2 to 3 miles apart. At the end of the 12-mile event, prizes will be awarded for the best poker hands. NOTE: For those seeking a shorter course, there is an alternate, 6-mile route that results in picking up a five-card poker hand. See MAP. Start / Finish: North Bay Park
    • Vendors displaying the latest in boats, paddling equipment and accessories at END OF SEASON PRICES. - 11 AM to 3 PM. Convention Center.
    • Picnic & Awards Presentation - 2 PM. North Bay Park after the Poker Paddle. All participants and volunteers invited. Sponsored by Prudential Grays Harbor Properties & North Beach Sausage & Deli.
